Victoria's Live Music Restart
The Victorian Government is breathing life into the state’s live music and events scene, with new industry grants and an insurance package to deliver a boost to music and other events sectors across both the inner city and regional centers.
Victorian Minister for Creative Industries, Danny Pearson has announced a $20 million Live Music Restart package, which will support the exciting return of live music in the state. Music venues will safely be able to get live shows back on their stages thanks to an $8 million program announced today. The program plans to recruit and train new staff, invest in Covid-Safe infrastructure and get musicians and music industry professionals back to work.
Music festivals and events will receive $8 million worth of help to recover from the uncertainty and impact of rescheduling and cancelled events due to the Covid. An additional $4 million will go towards bringing music performances to the CBD and inner-city, complementing the $5 million for regional events already announced.
In an Australian-first, a COVID-19 event insurance product will now be available and will give organisers of a variety of festivals and concerts the confidence to plan and stage future events.
Application details will be announced soon with the funding available through Creative Victoria.
