Frost and Fire in Forbes
The winter solstice is upon us and that means its time again for Forbes’s annual Frost And Fire Festival presented by Forbes Shire Council. Each year this event celebrates the solstice, the year’s shortest day and longest night. This year sees the Frost And Fire event return to Forbes’s Ski Dam, with family and friends coming together on Saturday the 17th June, 2023 to gather around crackling fires and indulge in hearty food, share drinks and enjoy awesome Aussie music.
The live music this year is an impressive mixture of regional and national musicians with Grenfell’s Belinda Day to kick off the evening, followed by locals Em, Cler and Jo, who are back on the Frost and Fire stage by popular demand. Next on the lineup is Indie-pop siren Birdee王煒, who has family roots in the Parkes area and is now carving a star for herself internationally. Headlining Frost And Fire is our iconic pop sensation Sneaky Sound System who will add to the events heat playing all your favourite songs.
Rounding out the days festivities will be the Wiradjuri tribe who will host a Welcome to Country, smoking ceremony and cultural performance by the last rays of the setting sun as well as the Sydney Fire Dancers who will perform a exciting fire show that’s not to be missed and includes the lighting of our grand effigy
It is the great Aussie spirit that is encapsulated by the Forbes’ Frost and Fire event, with bonfires and beats bringing the community together to make the most of the chilliness of winter so its no wonder this event is a sell out each year and with the great musical acts on the bill, 2023 is guaranteed to be another full capacity event.
Very limited paid parking is available on the evening, so organisers do urge attendees to take full advantage of the free buses running for Frost And Fire, bring a chair or a picnic rug and your most trusted winter woollies with the first fires set to be lit at 4pm.
