Sunbsonic’s Becca Hatch
The Subsonic Music Festival is running from the 29th of November through to the 1st of December in the tranquil area of Riverwood Downs, NSW, with a plethora of international and local artists on the bill. We caught up with one of the lovely locals, Becca Hatch to ask her some questions about her Subsonic preparations and who she is excited to see from the three-day event’s roster.
You are one of the acts announced for the Subsonic Festival happening on the Central Coast from the 29th of November to the 1st of December. Are you excited to be a part of this huge line-up of musical talent?
I’m so excited to be playing!! It’s my first time performing and attending Subsonic, so I can’t wait to perform! It’s gonna be sick
How do you prepare yourself for a massive event like Subsonic?
Regardless of the size of a show, I like to prepare for everything the same. I’m all about energy, and having the right mindset going into a show is so important. Regardless of where I am I usually try to ground myself, stick to my regular routine & exercise! As well as pumping myself up before going on stage, hype music is a must!
What can fans expect from your upcoming performance at Subsonic?
People can expect banter meets bangers!!! If you come to my set you’ll catch me and my DJ Nicole playing a lot of music from my debut EP MAYDAY. So Drum and Bass, House, Hyperpop, Jersey Club, and Amapiano!
What's the one song from your catalogue that you always slip into a set for a festival event and why?
Has to be BASS KEEPS CALLING!!! I think the name is self-explanatory haha.
Apart from your own, who's set are you most looking forward to at Subsonic?
There’s so many sick artists playing Subsonic but I’d say I’m really excited to see Soju Gang and DJ PG. Both are super-talented First Nation artists!
What are the best and worst parts of being on a multi-artist bill? Do egos ever get in the way or does it just add to the party?
I would say the best part is meeting other artists, both local and international. It’s always grounding and a good feeling to connect with other creatives. In terms of the worst parts, I’m not too sure because the one thing about me is I’m always here for the vibe! Regardless of whatever or whoever is on the bill!
Do you find that festivals like Subsonic present your songs to a potential new fan base?
1 million percent. Over the last few years, my music has transformed from R&B mainly into a space that explores dance pop elements! So it’s gonna be a lot of fun to play music to people who might be watching for the first time at Subsonic.
When we last caught up with you at the Grapevine Festival in the Hunter Valley and you had your gorgeous pooch with you, will he/she be making another heart-stealing appearance at Subsonic?
Awww! I wish I could bring Rocco to every show but unfortunately, he’s retired from his DJ career. We had to have a talk cause he was just blasting too much Drum and Bass all the time.
Do you have a message for your Fans coming to see you at Subsonic?
LETS ABSOLUTELY GET IT!!! Can’t wait to see you there!
