Brisbane metalcore band Revoid have released their new single, ‘Blood Petals’ featuring Julian Latouche of Inertia, ahead of their October East Coast headline tour. The heavy ballad explores the themes of heartache and remorse felt for a love lost and is our second taste of Revoid’s new collection of music which is set for release next year. We caught up with the band to ask them about the new song, the collaboration with Julian and what ticket holders can expect from the live shows.

You have just released your new track ‘Blood Petals' Tell us about your new song.  What was the inspiration behind the writing of this one?

Blood Petals’ is a song rife with passion and regret. A familiar experience to most, it serves as a very personal insight into the throes of love and love lost and intertwines the great sadness and intensity we feel when what we have grown to love is helplessly taken from us. This song started from one line; “You used to mean everything…”, a very simple line in itself, but something that you can’t help being drawn in by – a further testament to what we wanted to create with this song; something simple, but something powerful.

Did the song take on any massive changes during the creative process or was the final product the original vision?

The song stayed the same throughout the whole process besides adding Julian’s feature in the studio and adding some extra flair here and there.

For ‘Blood Petals’ you joined forces with Inertia’s Julian Latouche, how did this collaboration come about?

The collaboration with Julian came along quite naturally as we had worked with him on our first EP ‘Sleepless Still’ to help with some vocal writing. We became friends and we had been fans of Inertia for ages anyway so when it came to recording ‘Blood Petals’ he was just hanging out with us and Mark (Producer/Also in Inertia). During the studio section we suggested he would be a good fit for it, and he was keen, and it came together really quickly. Super stoked to have him on board for it being a friend of ours and just an amazing vocalist in general.

Can we expect further collabs on future tracks or was this a one-off?

This is just a one-off for now but we are open to more collaboration in the future for sure!

Can we expect an album or another EP out soon?

Yes! We will be releasing a bigger project in the first half of 2024.

This will also be the last chance to see our Debut EP ‘Sleepless Still’ played in full before we get ready for new music..

Revoid are hitting the road for an East Coast tour, for those who haven’t seen you live, what can ticket holders expect?

The best live set we have put together for sure. With it being a headline tour, this is the longest set we have played, and it allows us to play with the dynamic of the set and really control the energy we want to put out. The support bands we have on this tour are great too (The Motion Below, Ghost Complex) nothing better than watching them rip a sick set to get us in the mood for ours. This will also be the last chance to see our Debut EP ‘Sleepless Still’ played in full before we get ready for new music.

What's the history of Revoid? How did the band come together to make music?

Jack and Dale have been making music together since high school when they lived in Cairns and Krusty joined when they moved to Brisbane and we have been making music together consistently since then.

Where was your first gig as Revoid? Was it a success or a flop?

We played a show at The Brightside when it was combined with Crowbar for a few months before the big C ruined everything. It was an okay show, sort of a typical first show for most bands, not many people in attendance, technical difficulties, and all the fun stuff but you gotta start somewhere.

Festival Season is almost here for us in Australia, will we see Revoid on any of the summer festival lineups?

Nothing is lined up at the moment, but you never know what may happen between now and then.

Who in your crew or team deserves a shout-out but never gets one? And what is it they do that keeps your world turning?

Ophelia at Big Mouth PR, she makes sure our music gets to the right people who will push it to the right audience, and she gets excited with us when we get a cool opportunity so it’s great to have someone in our corner who is passionate about our music and wants it to do the best it can

What's next for the band? What can Revoid fans look forward to with 2024 rapidly approaching?

We will be working on getting our next body of work ready to share with everyone but if anyone wants an early sneak peek, they have to come out our East Coast tour that is happening right now!
